Infecção pelo papilomavirus humano (HPV) em homens de uma Unidade Militar
Abstract
With the purpose of detecting lesions due to contamination by Human Papilomavims a clinicai investigation was carried on a military base in the city ofR.J. from Dec. 92 through Feb. 93. A sample of 40 male soldiers was taken to a clinial exame which consisted of a peniscopy and after that the application of acetic acid at 5%. Among those 40 patients 14 (35%) presented white-acetic lesion which provided clinicai suspicion of HPV contamination and none of them presented externai lesions (condiloma). The 14 patients were instntcted to undergo a histopatological biopsy: only 9 among 14 soldiers presented them-selves at the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Sector/UFF for the biopsy and ali of them proved to be contamined by the human HPV Ali ofthe 9 patients whose contamination was confirmed are having the specific treatment and it is good to stress that none of them presented visible lesions. As part ofthis program the military effective has had lectures about Health Education in Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
