The aim of this study was the determination of the incidence of CMV infection in the serum positive of 499 patients as well as investigatin if there were any differences between the CMV and HIV serum positive groups. This work was perfonned using the complement fixation (FC), "Enzymerlincked immuno-sorbent assay" (ELISA), indirect irtúnunofluorescence (IFI) tests in arder to detect CMV antibodies: To detect HIV antibàdies, the ELISA, IFI and Western blot (wb) were used. The "results obtained suggest that the CMV my act as a co-factor in aids progression from the analysis doone with the patients separated by age, sex and virus the were infected by. Furthermore these results have shoV\'11 that most ofthose patients with HIV/CMV infection were between 20 to 24 years old, and fror.n this age groups on there was a gradual decreae in the number of persons infected.
